What You Missed at Dayglow Miami

Dayglow Miami absolutely blew my mind. The intensity of the performances, the electrified energy of the crowd, and the pulsating music created one of the most unique and memorable live performances I have ever seen.

Today’s most hypnotizing artists, including Robbie Rivera and newcomer David Solano, provided the thunderous musical narrative as 6,000 Dayglowers descended upon the Miami Beach Convention Center on Sunday night. Dayglow Miami broke attendance records, with the most powerful sound and light set-up and more production elements than ever before.

The musical journey had already begun when I got there at 9pm, as performances from Brass Knuckles, David Solano, and many others built up to an electrifying performance by house music’s own Robbie Rivera and a closing set by Willie Morales.

I am still in awe at the genius of the show—it takes the house music experience to a whole new level, making the crowd a part of the actual performance. It was like 6,000 people were on stage—never before have the crowd and artists been fused in such a unique environment.

The show is perfectly choreographed, both on and off the stage. Graphics on a stage-wide screen show the countdown until the next paint spraying along with hypnotizing visuals as paint cannons are readied to feed the crowd’s thirst for a color wheel of juicy paint. The venue had a bar, plenty of merchandise, and no details overlooked—all you needed to do was show up.

Dayglow began in 2006 as a regional party and has transformed itself into an international phenomenon. It’s also playing a monumental part in exposing the house music movement to the masses. Everybody needs to attend a Dayglow party, and with its snowballing popularity, chances are high that one will soon be happening near you.

Some may think that a paint party isn’t for them (that was me before last Sunday night) – I urge you to throw on a white tee, some jeans and experience Dayglow for yourself. If you make it there, I promise you’ll be telling everyone who will listen how it was one of most enjoyable nights of your life.

Dayglow Tips:

  • Put your phone in a Ziploc bag; bring your ID and some cash for t-shirts and the bar
  • Even though the paint is non-toxic and washable, wear clothes you don’t mind getting covered in paint.
  • Arrive early – there were thousands of people in line before the event even started.
  • Know your limits. You don’t want to be that effed up girl with paint in your hair being escorted out by police.
